City Attorney Nick Manley told the board that the low bid for the animal-shelter expansion came from Walker General Contractors in the amount of $298,830 and that "the recommendation from Urban Ark is to award that bid to Walker General Contractors for the expansion and authorize the mayor to sign the contracts for the expansion project." The board voted to accept the recommendation.
The board also approved awards for utilities equipment after a reverse auction. The lowest bid for a JCB 86C mini excavator came from Briggs Equipment Company for $98,000, and the lowest bid for a compact loader — a Bobcat 1086 model — came from Williams Equipment Company for $99,008.95. Aldermen authorized procurement and acceptance of the lowest and best bids, with funding to come from the utilities budget as stated during the meeting.
