Commission to approve final payment and separate seeding contract for Hill Road regrade

Fallon County public-works staff told the commissioners on Jan. 27 that the Hill Road regrading project has reached final change-order review and is ready for formal action that will release bonds and begin the one-year warranty period.

Project manager Rich said the county was under on borrow excavation, bedding and traffic control items and that seeding, mulching and temporary erosion-control work will be removed from the main contract and handled separately. He distributed a change order, the contractor's final pay application and a signed agreement from Weirich Construction.

Why it matters: approving the change order and final payment will start the contractor's one-year warranty period. Separating seeding and erosion control into a separate contract affects project scheduling and vendor responsibilities.

Rich said mulching and seeding quantities increased slightly (about 7 acres) and that those items would now be on a separate agreement with Weirich. He explained that the contractor's application for payment would release the project bonds and that the completion and warranty start date would be Dec. 30, 2024.

The commission voted in the afternoon session to approve the contractor's application for payment (final payment of $50,978.32) and later approved a separate seeding, mulching and erosion-control contract for $24,566 with a completion date of June 12, 2025.
