Representatives from Friends of Mill Ridge Park provided an annual update on programs, finances and capital planning for Mill Ridge Park in Antioch.
The group said it generated over $600,000 in revenue in 2024, with approximately $420,000 dedicated to operations and $255,000 allocated for capital improvements; year‑end assets were stated as roughly $1.6 million. Staff growth and partnerships with foundations, corporate sponsors and public agencies helped the group scale programming including kite festivals, a breakfast and brunch fundraiser supporting barn rehabilitation, pumpkin patch parties, a Framly (friends and family) 5K, volunteer days and a range of nature‑based activities. The organization said it supported more than 480 volunteers who contributed nearly 1,200 volunteer hours in the park last year.
Why it matters: the friends group said its revenue and volunteer capacity expand Metro Parks’ ability to program and maintain a newer regional park in Southeast Nashville and enable upcoming capital phases including a community‑oriented rehab of the barn and water‑play and stage features in future site designs.
Next steps
Friends of Mill Ridge invited board members to visit the park during upcoming park tours and said spring and fall events are scheduled with volunteer and community calendars posted on its website.
