Resident raises concerns about unverified addresses on Sherburne County voter rolls

During the public comment period of the April 1 Sherburne County Board meeting, resident Gary Tanziger of Elk River addressed the board about what he described as a problem with unverified addresses on the county’s voter registration rolls.
“My name is Gary Tanziger. I live in Elk River,” he told the board, and he said local data show “1,244 registered voters here in Sherburne County whose addresses cannot be verified.” Tanziger provided a breakdown he said came from his review: 575 who have moved out of the county, 52 who live on vacant lots, 253 who live in commercial buildings and 365 with invalid addresses. He said statewide unverified-address counts were larger and cited a number he said applied to Minnesota.
Tanziger referenced a federal action he identified as “executive order 14 2 48,” saying that it “mandates stricter measures to ensure election integrity” and that it “requires states and counties to take immediate action to clean up their voter rolls.” He urged the board to “prioritize this issue and allocate the necessary resources to address it” so Sherburne County would “fully comply with the executive order 14 2 48.” Tanziger said he brought a handout with his statistics and a website address for the executive order.
The board did not take immediate action during the meeting; staff later announced that a final written report on the county’s post‑election review from state reviewers would be presented to the board within the next month, and that county staff would present recommendations stemming from that review.
