A representative for the Area Plan office asked the Vigo County council on April 1 to approve a series transfer of $4,000 from an unspent vehicle appropriation to pay for safety lights for a truck the agency had purchased.
The presenter said executive director Jared Baylor was in Florida and that the request seeks a transfer from the vehicles line into a safety line for purchase and installation of lights. Council members asked why the vendor for the work is based in Danville, Illinois, noting the county’s preference for local vendors; the presenter said she could not answer vendor-choice questions but would pass the concern to the executive director.
Council members suggested the sheriff's department and local companies might be able to do the installation; the presenter agreed to pass the inquiry along to Jared Baylor and return with clarification at the next meeting.
No appropriation vote was recorded at the April 1 meeting.
