Fallon County commissioners vote unanimously to terminate DS coordinator Amanda Bridal

Fallon County commissioners voted unanimously to terminate Amanda Bridal from her role as disaster services (DS) coordinator, saying the decision was effective immediately.

Commissioners discussed discrepancies they said existed between Bridal’s account of meetings and the accounts provided by other participants and state staff. One commissioner said they had spoken with a county contact and a state reviewer who described training and certificate records differently than Bridal had. After brief discussion, a commissioner moved to terminate Bridal and another commissioner seconded the motion; the motion carried unanimously. Commissioners told Bridal the termination was effective immediately and county staff would collect county keys, a county cell phone and other county property.

The commission chair offered Bridal a copy of the termination letter after commissioners had signed it and escorted Bridal to an office to complete the return of county property. Commissioners said the decision had not been taken lightly and urged Bridal to move forward personally and professionally.

The action was recorded on the meeting record as a formal motion and vote; the meeting transcript records commissioners announcing the motion, a second, a voice vote in which all present signified “aye,” and the chair stating “Motion carries unanimously.” The transcript further records instructions to collect county property and provides no further administrative or appeal detail during the public meeting.
