Councilors received an update that 4760 Parktown Way, known as the Oaks Apartment, is on the city's emergency-demolition list but that demolition cannot move forward while litigation remains pending.
Staff said the building, which had a fire, was placed on the emergency-demolition list after council concerns were raised; a city representative told the council “there's also a lawsuit there. Once that is cleared, we will move expeditiously to demo that property.”
Council members and staff thanked demolition crews and staff for ongoing work and emphasized the need to follow legal requirements before taking action on properties with active legal matters. City staff said the item remains on the emergency list for tracking and that notation was intended to inform the council rather than to indicate immediate removal from the list.
