Taos County Commission accepts FY24 financial audit

The Taos County Board of Commissioners voted to accept the county’s FY 2024 financial audit following a presentation by auditor Bobby Cordova of Cordova CPAs.
The audit was presented at the March meeting to satisfy the Office of the State Auditor’s requirement. Auditor Bobby Cordova told commissioners that the audit “was in line for state and federal purposes.” Finance staff said they have worked to restructure controls and will continue efforts to mitigate risk.
County finance staff thanked Cordova CPAs and said the department has been restructuring internal controls and will continue implementing recommendations from the audit. Commissioners asked for a digital copy of the presentation; Cordova said he could email it.
Commissioners also discussed procurement of future audit services; staff said there is one remaining year on the current engagement with Cordova CPAs before the county must issue a request for proposals.
The measure — recorded as Resolution 2025-18 on the agenda — was moved, seconded and approved by roll call. Commissioners voting “yes” included Commissioner Vigil, Commissioner Romero, Commissioner Brush, Vice Chair Romero and Chair Muscaren (recorded names as read during the roll call).
