Marshfield committee grants 90-day extension for Taqueria Monarcha, authorizes revocation summons and moves April 15 hearing to 4 p.m.

The Marshfield Judiciary and Licensing Committee voted to grant a 90-day extension to Taqueria Monarcha's opening-period requirement, authorized staff to issue a summons for a possible liquor-license revocation hearing for an establishment with multiple violations, accepted a change of agent for Quick Tripping at 121 West Upham Street, and moved its April 15 meeting to 4 p.m.

The extension request came from Andres Aguirre, the applicant for Taqueria Monarcha, who told the committee construction delays and landlord issues pushed back the restaurant's opening timeline. "I'm here on your behalf of Taqueria Monarcha to request an extension of our liquor license. The construction will be ending, by the May," Aguirre said. He said the business now expects to open in mid-June and that staff and final permits remain to be completed.

Committee staff explained that the Marshfield Municipal Code imposes a 90-day limit for opening after a liquor-license application and that the applicant had previously received a 90-day extension that currently runs through April 14. Committee members voted to grant an additional 90-day extension; the exact new expiration date was not specified in the meeting record.

The committee also reviewed a complaint submitted by Police Chief Goring alleging three identical violations against a licensed establishment plus an additional charge. Committee staff recommended, consistent with the Marshfield Municipal Code and applicable state statute, that staff be authorized to issue a summons to the agent and owner to schedule a reconsideration/revocation hearing. The committee approved that authorization; a hearing is expected to be scheduled at the committee's next meeting.

Separately, members accepted a change-of-agent request for Quick Tripping, 121 West Upham Street, to list Linda Novak as the new agent. That change was approved by voice vote with no additional presentation.

Because the committee expects a license-revocation hearing at its April meeting, members voted to move the Judiciary and Licensing Committee meeting on April 15 to begin at 4 p.m. to allow sufficient time for the hearing and for other meetings scheduled that evening. Committee staff noted other meetings that night, including Finance at 5:30 p.m. and Plan Commission at 7 p.m., as reasons to avoid scheduling conflicts.
