Chester County agriculture arena set to host West NC State Fair; project largely funded by donations and state grant

Chester County's new agricultural arena is being prepared to host the West North Carolina State Fair, and much of the construction and site work has been donated by local farmers, Commissioner Luke Weaver said.
Weaver told the commission that the county has completed significant dirt work and graveling, that electricity is being connected, and that local farming equipment and volunteer time have contributed heavily to construction. He said the project also is supported by a grant from the Tennessee Department of Agriculture and that, "this project is not costing the county any taxpayer money from this county, which is a big, big bonus." Weaver said the arena is intended to serve all of Chester County, host livestock shows and be a year-round revenue generator.
The comments were presented as an informational update; the commission did not take formal action on the arena during the recorded portion of the meeting.
