Albany advertises multiple public bids and awards contracts for parks, pool and maintenance work

City procurement staff opened and authorized advertisements for several upcoming public bids and presented multiple contract awards at the March 18 meeting of the Board of Contract and Award.

Procurement staff (identified in the record as representatives from the budget department and the Albany Water Board) directed the secretary to advertise for bids on behalf of the Albany Water Board and the Department of Recreation for projects including general contracting, electrical and plumbing work for the Lincoln Park Learning Garden; site work for Washington Park Playground; and the Manning Boulevard Street Improvement Project. The record sets proposal receipt and opening dates: several bids to be received and opened at board meetings on April 8 and April 22, 2025, and states each bidder must include a deposit equal to 5% of the total bid and a bid bond or certified check.

The board recorded awards of multiple contracts described in the minutes. Mr. Gobel offered a resolution awarding the maintenance contract for masonry work at various city-owned buildings to GaNom Contracting Corporation for a base bid of $81,150. The Albany Water Department’s custodial and janitorial services contract was awarded to American Commercial Cleaning Corporation at a base bid of $2,350 per month. O'Connell Electric Company was recorded as the lowest bidder for electrical work related to Lincoln Park bathhouse improvements with a base bid of $185,600. Jurson Construction Group was recorded as the lowest qualified bidder for general construction at the Linking Pool project with a bid amount of $576,000. The planning department award for a reserve enhancement project was recorded to CFI Contract Incorporated with a total base/alternate scope bid of $2,138,400 as presented in the record.

Meeting participants recorded base bid amounts and listed alternate allowances for some projects (for example, a $25,000 allowance and sidewalk alternates described during the openings). The transcript did not include roll-call vote tallies for each award; the minutes state that the bids were accepted and that the mayor was authorized to sign contracts on behalf of the city.
