STONECREST, Ga. — The Stonecrest Planning Commission on April 1 recommended that City Council rezone 1455 Rogers Lake Road (parcel 1613103012) from R-100 (residential medium lot) to RSM (small-lot residential) to allow construction of a 75-unit townhome community.
The recommendation came after staff presented the application and recommended denial, citing that the proposed townhomes would not transition appropriately from nearby single-family lots that range up to five acres. Deputy Director Sue told commissioners the site plan “did not give any information about the width and the lots of the proposed development,” and that surrounding properties “are currently developed as single family detached.”
The applicant’s attorney, John Nicks, who substituted for the listed applicant’s representative, said the plan preserves perimeter hardwoods and uses topography to provide a natural buffer. “The plan has been laid out with the townhomes to remain intact, the hardwoods that are to the rear and along the perimeter of the property on either side,” Nicks said.
