A public-works or emergency-services department head told the council on April 1 that the town’s tornado sirens need preventive maintenance after a March test and that a vendor will provide a quote the town can review at a subsequent meeting.
The presenter said all the sirens functioned during the March test but a vendor identified items needing attention and that the town typically handles the maintenance. "I just wanted to give you a warning order on that," the department head said. He added that he has requested a written quote and will distribute reports and the quote to council members when ready.
Staff did not provide a cost estimate at the meeting; they said a quote would be available in the next day or so and that the town will discuss the maintenance at a future meeting once the estimate is received.
