LaSalle approves Rotary Park festival permit; foundation donates $5,000

The LaSalle City Council granted a special-event permit for the LaSalle Rotary Park Foundation’s Music and Art Festival, to be held May 24–25 at Pulaski Park, and accepted a $5,000 donation to the Rotary Park Fund.
"This is our ninth year for the music and art festival... May 24 and May 25 on Memorial Day weekend," Chris Vaske of the Rotary Park Foundation said at the meeting.
The motion to approve the permit was made and seconded by council members on the record; the roll call in the transcript shows Alderman Bassettor, Alderman Thompson, Alderman Patak, Alderman Reynolds, Alderman Jepsen, Alderman Herndon and others recorded as voting "Aye," while Alderman LaViere recorded an abstention as she said she was newly on the board and had not attended prior meetings. The council chair declared the motion carried.
The foundation representatives presented a $5,000 check to the city for the Rotary Park Fund and described the event as a community benefit that has relied on city assistance in prior years. The council took no additional fiscal action beyond accepting the donation and approving the permit.
