Herron described basketball participation in February and said the program helped her daughter try activities the family otherwise thought were out of reach.
Another parent noted that the program provided a way for a child identified as Ellie to participate in basketball for the first time and that families look forward to more opportunities through Dream Team. The county’s account said the league supports multiple sports, including basketball, baseball and bowling.
County communicators framed Dream Team as part of Parks and Recreation’s efforts to ensure children with disabilities can play and form friendships; the update did not specify registration deadlines, fees or the program’s season schedule beyond the mention that bowling is underway and basketball occurred in February.
