Corey (Public Works) said the program follows the city's GIS-based street evaluation and that the proposed overlay will include base repair where required, Americans with Disabilities Act sidewalk ramp updates or new ramp installations, striping and spot curb replacements. The three bid alternates are: the Old City Hall parking lot (to address drainage and base issues), paving the Public Works South maintenance yard (Eleventh and Clinton) and repairs at the Davis Center where base failures are beginning to create trip hazards.
Corey said the work would be bid as a single contract with alternates and indicated the city will focus on areas where the base and pedestrian safety issues justify replacement rather than wholesale curb replacement. The presentation noted the program is funded by use-tax revenue and that recent years completed roughly a similar number of lane miles (staff recalled about 10 lane miles last year).
The item was presented for the board’s review; no formal action was taken at the meeting.
