The Oak Grove Board of Alderwomen voted to amend the city's compensation plan March 3 to provide a 2% cost-of-living adjustment and to raise the city minimum wage to Missouri’s newly established $13.75.
Staff presented the proposed amendment and said the 2% increase had been budgeted in the 2025 city budget and would take effect in the first payroll period in April. The presentation noted that a 1% COLA would cost roughly $20,000–$25,000; the 2% adjustment is estimated at $40,000–$50,000 across the general fund, water and sewer fund, and transportation fund.
"The proposed COLA adjustment would take effect the first pay period, first payroll in April," the staff presenter said during the discussion. The staff presentation also noted recent Consumer Price Index figures for context.
A motion to approve the change to the compensation plan was made and seconded; the motion passed by voice vote. The clerk recorded the board’s action as Resolution No. 2,502.
The change raises the city’s minimum wage to match state law and formally updates pay ranges and steps for city positions. Staff said they are prepared to implement the payroll changes for the April pay period and will report any final budget implications in subsequent financial updates.
