Council advances several land-use permits and ordinances; Deer Creek Greenway trail approved

The Maplewood City Council on Jan. 28 approved a cooperation agreement to build the Deer Creek Greenway pedestrian trail and voted to advance several conditional-use permits and ordinance amendments to third and final readings.
The council approved final reading of Bill 6268, the cooperation agreement for construction, operation and maintenance of the Deer Creek Greenway pedestrian trail from South Big Bend Boulevard to Canterbury Avenue; the bill was adopted as Ordinance 6062 after a recorded roll-call vote. Council members voting yes were Council member Falkingham; Council member Garcia; Mayor Greenberg; Council member Homa; and Council member Page.
At the same meeting the council gave first-and-second readings or second readings and moved forward several land-use permits and code changes including conditional-use permit applications for a daycare at 2425 South Big Bend Boulevard (Storybook Learning Center), an office use at 7302 Piccadilly Avenue (STL Bucket List), and a vintage clothing and collectibles store at 2718 Sutton Boulevard (Reset Vintage Apparel). Each of those items passed on voice votes and will return for third and final readings at a future meeting.
Council members also moved several code amendments forward to a final reading, including: an amendment to the municipal code to set the tobacco and vaping age-related references in the code to persons under age 21; an update to parking/registration provisions in Chapter 50 to address the operation and parking of unregistered vehicles and trailers; and revisions to temporary sign rules for election signs. Those bills advanced on council voice votes and will appear for final action at a subsequent meeting.
