Board approves XPEL Inc. conditional use permit for vehicle coating and tinting; ordinance adopted

The Board of Aldermen voted Feb. 3 to approve a site development plan and conditional-use permit allowing XPEL Inc. to operate at 1326–1330 Strausner Drive in the Light Industrial (LI) district.
Land-use counsel Mike Doster told the board the tenant space is roughly 7,500 square feet and that no exterior changes to the building or site are proposed. He said servicing work will occur inside the building and that vehicles will be brought from car dealerships and returned to them; customers do not visit the site directly. Doster described the operations as applying paint-protection film, ceramic coatings and window tinting, and said the petitioner expected to handle an initial 2–3 vehicles per day with potential growth to 4–6 per day.
Board members asked about worker safety and hazardous materials; the applicant represented that the work does not involve bodyshop mechanical repairs or heavy hazardous processes and described the workspace as a clean installation environment. The board voted to advance the measure in a second reading and then to perfect and adopt the ordinance. On roll call the motion to adopt carried 7–0. The ordinance will be recorded as Ordinance No. 500169.
Votes: The adoption roll call recorded affirmative votes from Aldermen Plovka, Tice, Wege, Sims, Lochmiller, Gould and Harder.
Outcome: Ordinance approved, conditional-use permit and site plan adopted; no exterior modifications or signage approved as part of this permit.
