Brentwood Park, Brentwood Bound program earn regional awards; project finance and reimbursements discussed

Brentwood Park and the city’s Brentwood Bound program were recognized at regional and professional conferences, and staff provided a project update at the Board of Aldermen meeting on May 3.
Andrew Franke of Planning Design Studio said Brentwood Park received a Merit Award from the American Society of Landscape Architects for Design and Construction Projects. "This award represents your leadership in shaping spaces that are both functional and beautiful," Franke told the board, and he thanked the city for the opportunity to work on the project.
At the Missouri Parks and Recreation Association conference the city received the Public Official Achievement Award for the Brentwood Bound plan, staff said; the award recognized the project’s comprehensive approach to longstanding flooding issues and recreation improvements.
City administrator staff provided a Brentwood Bound financial update. Craig Schluter of Navigate Building Solutions reported recent expenditures and reimbursements: construction costs of $17,776; NexSys soft costs of $93,554.09 covering project management, legal and design fees, and MoDOT‑related reimbursements; and a municipal grant reimbursement of $410,000 received by the city. Schluter also reported an SWT reimbursement and indicated some GRG Russell project expenditures were paid from Fund 40 after a transfer from Brentwood Bound.
Board members congratulated project staff and the mayor on the recognitions. The awards and financial reports were presented as informational items; no formal action was required.
