Planning reports 176 permits in February; Home Depot outdoor storage amendment cleared for Board hearing

The planning department reported 176 new building permits in February and said the Planning & Zoning Commission approved Home Depot’s request for additional outdoor storage as an amendment to its conditional-use permit; both items were noted for the Board of Aldermen’s April 7 meeting.
The City of Brentwood’s Planning & Development staff reported on March 13 that the department issued 176 new building permits and completed 1,138 inspections in February, opened 29 new code-enforcement cases and averaged 11 to 11.5 days from submittal to permit issuance for 2024 permit activity.
Staff said the Planning & Zoning Commission approved Home Depot’s request for additional outdoor storage; that amendment will be scheduled for a public hearing before the Board of Aldermen on April 7. The commission also approved revisions to the self-storage text amendment, which will likewise move forward to the Board.
Staff noted an RFQ for nuisance abatement closed with a single incomplete bid; the department plans to reissue focused grass-cutting bids and a second RFP for more complex abatement services. The department also reported ongoing business-license renewals and that late fees will begin to be applied for overdue renewals.
Vacancies exist on the Board of Adjustment and the Redevelopment Corporation; staff said they have contacted the school district about filling a school-district representative seat on the redevelopment board but have not received a final name.
Staff requested Board of Aldermen review of the Home Depot amendment and the self-storage text amendment at the April 7 meeting.
