The Brentwood Board of Aldermen on March 17 presented lifesaving awards to Makena Palmer and Trevor Moss for rescuing a child who fell through ice at Brentwood Park on Feb. 23, 2025.
City officials described the pair’s actions as “selfless and heroic” and presented formal awards in the meeting’s recognitions section. City staff said Palmer and Moss noticed a child on the ice, called a warning, then entered the freezing water to reach and bring the child safely to shore. City staff emphasized the rescuers acted without obligation and praised their character.
The board then introduced two new officers joining the Brentwood Police Department. Lieutenant Josh Bowersox introduced officer Drew Mahana, who the lieutenant said graduated from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department academy in 2018 and worked on North and South patrols before joining the local department in February 2025. Lieutenant Bowersox also introduced Aladdin Husidich, who the lieutenant said joined the department on March 11, 2025, after nearly three years with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department; Husidich graduated from the St. Louis Police Academy in May 2021.
There were no formal votes tied to the recognitions or officer introductions. The presentations took place during the meeting’s announcements and recognitions portion; no citizen comments related to those items were recorded.
