Key details discussed: The project keeps the existing roof framing in place where possible but will add a new sloped roof over the former flat area and bring eaves flush with the face of the house in several locations so the new eave ties across the façade. The bay window will retain a slight projection and the front porch roof will be made flush with the rest of the house; dentils and other trim elements will remain. The applicant noted existing brick will be cut down and re-laid where needed so the new eave can rest on top of the brick.

Board members weighed preserving original front details against repairing leakage; they encouraged the applicant to preserve distinctive features when feasible but accepted the proposed work because it resolves known water intrusion. A motion to approve the Salem submission as noted passed on roll-call votes that recorded Carl Carlin and Matt Forman as voting yes. Staff will record the approved changes in the project file.
