During the public-comment portion of the Feb. 3 Booneville City Council meeting, resident Hesse Watts described two recent incidents on Santa Fe Trail in which vehicles nearly struck her. Watts told the council she was nearly hit twice last month while crossing and again when pulling out of her driveway. She said limited sightlines when backing out contribute to the danger and asked the city to install more signs.
Watts also thanked the street department for prompt snow removal on Santa Fe Trail, saying it was among the first streets cleaned and praising crews for their work.
Her comments were delivered during the public-comment period and not part of an agenda item; no council action was recorded on the suggestion to add signs during the meeting.
The council did not record a formal response in the minutes beyond receiving the comment; staff and council members may take the concern under advisement for follow-up outside the meeting.
The council’s public records show statements made during public comment are documented in the meeting transcript.
