The Booneville City Council recorded several formal actions at its Feb. 3 meeting, including an ordinance appropriating funds for payroll and accounts, approval of two contractor pay requests on the consent agenda, approval of a mayoral appointment to Ward 2 and approval of a Community Development Block Grant agreement.
Ordinance appropriating funds: The council read an ordinance appropriating $365,387.41 for payroll and accounts across city funds (General Fund $365,387.41; Sanitation $121,034.19; CIP tax $40,454.85; Water Works $105,724.69; Wastewater $75,498.56; Gaming $3,161; Parks and water $400; other line items noted in the ordinance). The mayor moved to approve the ordinance on second reading; a second was recorded. Roll call recorded Davis — yes; Atkinson — yes; Young — yes; Coward — yes; Elbert — yes; Venable — yes. The ordinance passed.
Consent pay requests: The council considered pay request No. 3 from Glovecon for $25,032.50 for City Hall upstairs remodeling and pay request No. 2 from Rod Baker Construction for $138,603.10 for Hale Ridge Parking Lot. A motion to approve both consent items was seconded and carried by roll call earlier in the meeting (roll-call responses recorded in the transcript include affirmative votes leading to passage of the consent items).
Ward 2 appointment and swearing-in: The council accepted Mayor Beach’s recommendation of Susan Meadows for Ward 2. A motion and second were recorded; the council voted in favor. The mayor administered the oath of office to Susan Meadows during the meeting.
CDBG resolution: The council approved Resolution R2025-03 authorizing a CDBG agreement with the Missouri Department of Economic Development to provide $500,000 toward renovating Academic Hall for childcare. See the separate article for details and roll-call responses recorded in the transcript.
