District honors Take Stock scholarship winner and dozens of students who scored perfectly on state tests

The Putnam County School Board recognized a range of student achievements during the meeting, including a scholarship presented by Take Stock in Children and certificates for students who scored perfect results on state assessments.
Serena Martinez of Take Stock in Children of Putnam County said the group was present to honor Mia Paul of Crescent City Junior‑Senior High School, noting the student had earned a Leaders for Life fellowship that carries a $40,000 award. “We are here today to present Mia Paul, a student from Crescent City Junior Senior High School as a recipient of a very, generous, scholarship opportunity,” Martinez said.
Mia Paul spoke briefly and thanked the community. “Hello, everyone. Thank you so much for coming today. And, it was really honor, honorable to have this recognition and to see how much this community has been a part of my successes,” she said.
Separately, district staff led a ceremony recognizing students who received perfect scores on last year’s FAST assessments and other state tests. District presenters called students to the front school by school and handed certificates for perfect scores across grades and subjects, including ELA, mathematics, science and civics.
Board members and the superintendent praised the students and their teachers during the recognition. The board paused the meeting to take group photographs with award recipients.
