Commission approves grants, proclamations and county agreements; library HVAC grant wins funding

The Sweetwater County Board of County Commissioners on April 1 unanimously approved a slate of routine and action items, including two state grant agreements, three proclamations and a University of Wyoming personnel compensation agreement.
The panel approved a $10,000 Volunteer Fire Assistance (VFA) grant from the Wyoming State Forestry Division plus the required $10,000 county match to buy equipment for County Fire District 1, and a $546,980 mineral royalty grant (MRG) from the Wyoming Office of State Lands and Investments to pay for a failing HVAC system at the White Mountain Library. The MRG requires a like cash match from the county, producing a total project budget of $1,093,960. Commissioners voted unanimously on both grants.
Commissioners also unanimously approved three proclamations: National Library Week 2025; National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (April 13–19, 2025); and April 2025 as Sexual Assault Awareness Month, presented by the Sweetwater County Library staff, the Combined Communications Center and the YWCA Victims Advocacy Center respectively.
Other formal approvals included the meeting agenda and consent agenda (minutes, vouchers, bonds, and several staffing actions), and the county’s annual compensation agreement with the University of Wyoming Extension covering a UW employee whose salary the county pays. The board also voted to approve a draft letter to Congresswoman Harriet Hageman asking for revisions to the Rock Springs Resource Management Plan (RMP) to align with recent presidential and secretarial directives; the commission agreed to send the letter and pursue further conversations with BLM leadership.
