The Harris County Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution on April 1 approving the county’s 2024 Capital Improvement Element (CIE) annual update after the Georgia Department of Community Affairs reviewed the document and “found that it adequately addresses applicable requirements,” the board was told.
Andre, speaking to the board, said the update removes projects already completed and that “all of the fees are set to 0, so there is no collection. There is no monetary aspect to any of this.” He cited completed projects that were taken off the list, including a restroom building and a disc-golf course at Ellerslie Park.
The county will submit the adopted resolution to the Department of Community Affairs; the department will notify the county if its qualified local government status is extended following receipt. Commissioners voted to adopt the update by motion and second; the motion carried.
No additional appropriations or fee changes were made at the meeting. Commissioners did not debate individual projects in detail during the vote; staff had previously updated the project list to reflect completed items.
The adoption preserves the administrative status needed for certain state planning and funding programs; the board did not take any separate action on funding or project scheduling at this meeting.
