The Okaloosa County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved County Administrator Halstead’s recommendation to appoint Jason Autry as deputy county administrator for development services.
Kelly Burton presented the administrator’s recommendation, listing Autry’s two decades of county service as public‑works director, a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, a Professional Engineer license in Florida and certified public manager credentials. Burton said the new position will oversee growth management, public works and water and sewer.
Commissioners praised Autry’s availability, technical experience and mentoring role; multiple commissioners thanked him for long service to the county. Autry thanked staff and family and said he looks forward to serving in the new role.
Next steps: the appointment took effect on Tuesday following the unanimous vote; county staff said Autry will begin coordination among the three departments identified and will report back to the board as projects and reorganizational work proceed.
