Visitor highlights MTSU quantum computing research, industry ties

A staff member said during remarks that a visit to Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro included tours of quantum computing research and the university’s Concrete and Construction Management Building, and noted industry partnerships and student hiring.

The staff member said the visit underscored workforce-development efforts and university–industry collaboration across Tennessee that, in their view, will support future business uses of quantum computing and innovations in concrete management.

“They are reaching across the state working with lots of other partners in our state, to further the research, further the workforce development capabilities that I think is really going to be the future,” the staff member said, describing MTSU’s work in quantum computing and its outreach to partners. The remarks said the university is working with faculty and industry to prepare students for jobs that will use those technologies.

The speaker also described the university’s Concrete and Construction Management Building as a national leader in its field and emphasized hands-on partnerships with industry. “MTSU is really leading the nation around concrete management just to see what's happening over there in that facility. They're bringing in industry, really partnering with industry and it's it's letting the faculty and students learn from the industry,” the staff member said. The remarks added that industry partners are hiring students: “And also they're hiring new students. So it's working out great.”

On the visit’s purpose, the staff member said the delegation was touring state university facilities and planned additional visits and outreach. “So we're gonna be doing more of these and be sharing more, you know, in the weeks to come,” the staff member said.
