The Flight Community Neighborhood Association announced plans for a community picnic in early to mid July and requested volunteers and business participation at its regular meeting.
“We're planning a fun filled community picnic in early to mid July,” said Corina Stubbs, co‑vice president of the association. Organizers said they will secure a park location with the county parks liaison and will solicit ideas, prizes and vendor participation through May and June.
The events subcommittee said it will pursue student volunteers and community members for setup, check-in, cleanup and activity staffing. The association reported contact with a local inflatables vendor and noted the county can provide backyard-style games that can be rented for the event.
Association leaders also said they have received many requests about a children's Fourth of July parade and are considering a short parade that would end at the picnic. Organizers said they will coordinate final dates and park reservations with county staff to avoid conflicts with planned park maintenance projects.
Residents were asked to provide ideas, nominate local businesses for booths, and sign up via the association’s contact list. The association said it will continue volunteer recruitment and event planning through the spring and early summer.
