Board approves $29,700 agreement with Design Dynamics for courthouse plaza and façade work

The Linn County Board of Supervisors approved an agreement with Design Dynamics for professional services to restore the entrance plaza and exterior façade of the county courthouse for $29,700.
Luke Fisher, Linn County facilities director, said the scope includes plaza restoration and tuckpointing on the courthouse face, and that the county plans to coordinate timing with an upcoming county centennial celebration and the City of Cedar Rapids’ Third Avenue construction project, which Fisher said will limit parking and access on the east side of county property. Fisher said funding will come from the county’s capital improvement program (CIP) pool, which he described as a $425,000 pool used across two projects.
Supervisors discussed coordination with the county attorney’s office and with city and contractor partners to manage parking and safety during construction. Fisher said facilities will work with the architect and contractors to minimize safety risks and to coordinate staging and parking given limited spaces.
The board moved to approve the agreement; a voice vote carried the motion.
