Lucas County approves developer correction and accepts $2.53 million EPA grant for unsewered Curtis area

The Lucas County Board of Commissioners on April 1 approved two items from the sanitary engineer: an amendment to a private agreement for sanitary sewer and water lines in Brookside Flat 10 to correct the developer name, and permission to accept a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency grant of $2,532,832 for sanitary sewer system design and improvements in the unsewered area of Curtis.
Nate Incrot, presenting for the sanitary engineer, said the amendment corrects an earlier error and identifies the developer as Sylvania Cobblestone developers for the sanitary sewer 852 H and water supply line 1593 H in Brookside Flat 10. Incrot also announced the EPA grant award amount for Curtis’s sewer design and improvements.
Commissioner Lopez praised the work that led to the grant, saying in the meeting, “This has been a long time coming. Yes. It is. This is great work with the out of county engineer, the out of county commissioners, and actually, dare I say, cooperation with the Ohio EPA on this.” Commissioner Lopez moved the motion and the roll call recorded yes votes from Commissioners Lopez and Gerken; the motion passed.
The board’s approvals authorize staff to finalize the amendment and accept the EPA grant; the transcript does not record additional contractual terms, timelines, or matching fund requirements for the project.
