The Lucas County Board of Commissioners approved a bundle of county items covering appointments, emergency repairs, infrastructure limits and vehicle purchases.
The board reappointed Laurie Adams and Gary Stuckey to the Access Management Appeals Board for terms ending June 30, 2029. Commissioners approved emergency repairs to the Howard Farms pump station carried out by Gem Services of Waterbridge, Ohio, following freezing damage to pumps; the work and planned follow-up were authorized at $125,000.
The county also approved a joint cooperation agreement with the Reno Beach Howard Farms Conservancy District for project management services on a federally funded study of existing levees in Jerusalem Township; the county will manage that work on a time-and-materials basis. The engineer’s office presented plan specifications and a cost estimate of approximately $320,000 for long-line painting (referred to as “grama” in the presentation). The board authorized reduced vehicle weight limits for three Dutch Road bridges (IDs 813, 814 and 815) after load ratings showed the 1910-era structures cannot carry modern loads; county staff said signage will be posted and replacement is planned in future years.
From the sanitary engineer’s office, the board authorized permission to advertise for purchase of three new Chevrolet Silverado work trucks and to sell five existing vehicles (to be handled via GovDeals). The presenter said the moves are part of returning to pre-COVID vehicle assignments and that some fleet consolidation and cost comparisons had been made.
Motions on these items carried by recorded roll calls. The transcript records a roll call approving items 3 through 7 after the engineer’s presentation (recorded as yes votes for Commissioners listed in the clerk’s roll call). The truck purchase was moved by Commissioner Gerken and approved with yes votes recorded for Commissioners Gerken, Lopez and Cabecki. The board adjourned to meet again April 1 at 11:00.
