Shaw said she “set you up” on his first day and described her as a steady presence at the sanitary engineering office. Several speakers thanked Malkin for decades of public service and noted that her work has supported the county’s water and sanitary operations.
Malkin, joined in the chamber by family members, accepted the certificate and thanked her coworkers and the commissioners. Commissioners and staff encouraged her to enjoy retirement and noted she had been active with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME).
The ceremony included short remarks, a certificate presentation and group photographs. No departmental actions or funding changes were associated with the retirement recognition.
