Council approves Sidecar Cocktail Lounge private-club permit for North College Avenue

The Fayetteville City Council approved an ordinance allowing the Sidecar Cocktail Lounge to apply for a private-club permit for 1150 North College Avenue, Suite 100.
The application was presented by the city’s licensing staff and by the applicant, Corey McCain, who described security and safety measures including trained staff and cameras, and said the lounge will not serve full meals but will offer small packaged snacks. “We make sure that any anybody and everybody is safe in our establishment,” McCain said, and added the business would pursue training with city police or the state Alcoholic Beverage Control division.
Council members asked about food service and safety practices; McCain said Sidecar will not serve regular meals and will instead have limited snack items and a relationship with a neighboring restaurant. There were no public comments during the public-hearing portion of the item.
Council votes recorded on the record show unanimous passage of the ordinance forwarding the private-club permit application to the state licensing process. The council also approved suspending rules for second and third readings and adopted the ordinance by roll-call vote.
