The Skamania County Board of Commissioners approved a consent agenda that included a $65,440.07 contracting expense for remodeling work at the Hables Center, along with routine vouchers and payroll authorization.
Public Works Director Wayne Meyer told the board the county followed standard procurement steps for the remodel: advertising on the county website, targeted outreach to local vendors and a scheduled walk-through. Two contractors attended the walk-through, but only a single bid was received at closing, Meyer said.
Commissioners voted to approve vouchers presented at the March 18 meeting. The board also approved payroll for the pay period March 1–15, 2025, totaling $769,093.04, with $438,866.86 charged to the current expense fund and warrant and direct deposit ranges announced during the meeting.
The remodeling contract for the Hables Center and the other consent items were approved by voice vote. County staff noted the single-bid situation for the remodel and said a similar procurement approach is being followed for related building projects; the board asked staff to continue outreach to potential bidders and to report back if additional procurement steps are needed.
