The Pierce County Council adopted Resolution R2025-117 on March 11, 2025, setting an evening District 6 council meeting for Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. at the McGavitt Conference Center, Clover Park Technical College, 4500 (as read) Silicon Boulevard SW, Lakewood.
Vice Chair Herrera moved approval of R2025-117; the motion was seconded and the clerk read the resolution into the record. Council staff explained that the Pierce County Charter requires the council to hold at least one evening meeting in each of the seven council districts each year and that council rules of procedure require the council to set specific times and places by resolution.
Ms. Long briefed the council, noting the April 9 evening meeting will be in addition to the council’s regular Tuesday meeting on April 8. Herrera said the theme for the evening meeting will be public health and described plans to highlight the Public Health Advisory Board’s review of the county and state COVID-19 response.
The council conducted a roll-call vote; the motion carried 7 ayes and 0 nays. The council will hold the District 6 evening meeting as scheduled and staff indicated the item satisfies the charter and procedural requirements.
