Committee advances SB 50 to encourage housing development language in municipal comprehensive plans

Wigan said the change would be permissive rather than mandatory and would not require municipalities to rewrite existing plans; the language would be considered during the normal 10-year update cycle.
Committee members did not receive any amendments by the posted deadline and no members of the public offered testimony. A committee member moved to advance the bill and, seeing no objections, the chair announced that SB 50 moves from committee with individual recommendations and the attached fiscal note. The motion carried by voice consent; no roll-call vote was recorded.
The measure will proceed with the committee report and fiscal note attached, and the committee paused briefly to sign the report before taking up the next agenda item.
