General Joseph Stein was sworn in as a member of the State Transportation Board representing Georgia’s Seventh Congressional District after taking an oath administered by Judge Bagley during a Committee of Transportation meeting.
Judge Bagley administered the oath, asking Stein to repeat the pledge to "discharge all the duties lawfully required of me as a member of the State Transportation Board" and to affirm he was not the holder of unaccounted public money. After the oath, Stein told committee members he was "very honored" and said he hoped to "represent you all well" during his term.
Committee members offered remarks of welcome. A committee member thanked Stein for remaining in the process despite what the member described as false statements made about him during the appointment campaign and praised his decision to stay the course; Stein responded by saying he was "here to work for you whenever you need." The chair asked Stein to make brief remarks to the committee following the oath.
Committee staff were instructed to file the oaths and related paperwork. The committee said it would forward the sworn appointment records as required by the board's administrative process.
