Council approves rezoning west of Museum Road for phased duplex development

The Conway City Council voted 7-0 to rezone property approximately 620 feet west of Museum Road and the East Sebern Morgan Road roundabout from R-1 to R-2 to allow the applicant to build duplexes in phases.
Planning staff said the first phase would include two duplexes with additional units planned on a larger lot in a later phase. Abutting uses include single-family residences to the west, a senior center and mini storage nearby, and commercial uses along North Creek Drive.
Staff reported the planning commission had voted unanimously to recommend approval and no public opposition was recorded at the commission hearing. Council discussion was brief and supportive; one councilmember said the property is a good fit for the proposed use.
The council adopted Ordinance O2531 by unanimous vote. Any future building will require site development review and permitting.
