Council awards $361,189 contract for city garage doors using fleet fund balance

The San Angelo City Council voted 7‑0 to award RFBFS‑01‑25 to Denton and Bradley Metal Solutions Inc. for the purchase and installation of garage doors in the total amount of $361,189, and authorized the city manager to execute related documents. Council approved the item on the regular agenda April 1.
Ryan Valencio, staff presenting the request, said 16 of the replacement doors will serve the Fleet Services facility and three will go to the water‑distribution/sewer collection facility. He said an energy‑efficiency grant offsets part of the cost and that the remaining $170,290 will be paid from the Fleet Services fund balance.
“Fleet services facility is in some need. The grant that's mentioned here is an energy efficiency grant, so they will help us save some energy bills along the way,” Valencio told council.
Councilmembers thanked staff for finding partial grant funding and for keeping the city’s facility maintenance program on schedule. There were no public comments on the item. Councilmember Tommy moved approval; Councilmember Lucy seconded. The motion passed 7‑0.
The contracts and installation are expected to proceed under the city’s procurement terms. Staff said the work will extend the useful life of the Fleet Services facility while the city refines any longer‑term building plans.
