The Cayce City Council approved a staff recommendation to award a construction contract for Glenwood Park improvements to Verisk Construction for $49,962.44. Council authorized the city manager to execute the agreement; funding will come from the city’s hospitality tax reserve fund.
Staff said the project list includes replacement of a chain-link fence, removal of a broken bike rack, preconditioning the basketball court and goals, relocating an old picnic shelter, adding a water fountain, and installing seating and trash receptacles. The city advertised a request for quotes on Nov. 1, 2024 and received six proposals; a city selection committee of three staff members evaluated submissions and recommended Verisk Construction as the most responsive and responsible bidder.
Staff noted Verisk Construction is locally based and that the firm met the RFP criteria while submitting the lowest responsive bid. Council members and staff described the project as a neighborhood-focused improvement and discussed outreach for a future unveiling; staff suggested involving nearby schools and neighborhood leaders for a community event when the work is complete.
Council’s vote to award the contract was unanimous. The city manager was authorized to execute the contract and proceed with the project; staff will coordinate scheduling and neighborhood outreach.
