Leslie, a city staff member presenting the item, told council the surplus declaration is required to sell municipal property. The council also voted to add a $1,300,000 expense to the general fund so the city can complete the 2025 purchase. Funding will come from a transfer of restricted hospitality/impact-fee fund balance and the estimated proceeds from sale of the 2012 truck.
When asked about sale proceeds, Leslie said the city expects to receive approximately $350,000 from the sale. Staff said the new truck purchase was approved by council in March 2023 and the vendor delivery schedule means the vehicle will arrive later this year; staff estimated delivery in the summer.
Council approved the surplus declaration and the budget amendment by voice vote during the meeting. Staff said proceeds from the surplus sale will be used to offset the cost of the new apparatus.
