The Hanahan Planning Commission approved minutes from its Dec. 3 meeting and elected new officers during its regular session.
Commissioners approved the Dec. 3 minutes, with Commissioners Watts and Eckstein recorded as abstaining and the remaining commissioners voting yes. The commission then completed its election of officers: a nominee identified only as Philip was elected chair; Paul Ferreira was elected vice chair after a contested nomination; and staff member Larry was named secretary for the commission's meeting records.
The officers will serve until the commission's next election cycle, and commissioners said the appointments were made to ensure continuity of leadership for upcoming planning workloads. Commissioner Farrar recorded an abstention during the vice chair vote; all other recorded votes for those officer elections were recorded as aye.
Other routine business included the motion to adjourn, which passed by voice vote. The commission noted its next meeting is scheduled for March 4, 2025, and that a retiring long‑serving commissioner will be recognized at the next City Council meeting.
