Terrebonne Parish Council adopts multiple ordinances and budget changes; orders special election in Shriver Fire Protection District

The Terrebonne Parish Council on March 26 approved several ordinances and resolutions covering vendor regulation, budget amendments, property acquisition for a sewer force main, and equipment surplus declarations, and it called a special election in the Shriver Fire Protection District.

The council approved an ordinance to amend Chapter 16 of the parish code to facilitate regulation of mobile food vendors. The motion to adopt was made by Councilman Danny Babin and seconded by Kim Chauvin; the recorded vote was 9–0 in favor as announced at the meeting.

The council also approved an ordinance renaming the Customer Service Division to the Bill Paying and Licensing Division (motion to adopt by Babin, second by Chauvin; vote recorded as 8–0). Officials clarified during the meeting that the parish-wide customer-service function remains, but the division’s name will reflect the unit’s primary duties.
