Curriculum staff recommended both trips and described the standard parent-notification and opt-out process for sessions and speakers. A board member raised concerns about the MSEC conference's past keynote speakers and asked whether the agenda and speaker list had been published.
Staff replied the agenda had not been published yet and said the district follows its practice of notifying parents as soon as the information becomes available and sending updates as sessions or speakers are added; parents retain the right to decide which sessions their children will attend.
Board members did not take a final vote at the work session. The trip requests were listed as action items for the regular April 7 meeting.
