Board to re-adopt Alternative Model B for Pinckney Community Learning Center in state accountability submission

Summary
Staff presented the Community Learning Center at Pinckney's recommendation to continue using Alternative Model B in state accountability, which weights persistence, achievement and growth (20%/20%/60%); staff said returning CLC officials prefer to maintain their own three-year data set if standard counts are insufficient.
District staff presented the annual alternative-accountability participation option for the Community Learning Center (CLC) at Pinckney and recommended continuing the same option used previously, Alternative Model B.
Under the selected model, accountability would be calculated as 20% student persistence (students remaining enrolled through the end of the school year), 20% achievement (proficiency) and 60% growth, according to staff. Staff said the CLC prefers to keep and use its own three-year data set rather than borrowing data from another school if the number of tested students were insufficient to compute the standard measures.
Ms. Fall told the board the CLC has not needed to use the backup three-year option in recent memory because sufficient test and assessment data have been available. The board asked clarifying questions about thresholds (staff said the usual minimum for test-based calculations is roughly 30 students) and how persistence would be measured; staff explained persistence counts students who remain enrolled through the end of the year.
Staff said the participation choice must be submitted to the State Board of Education; no formal vote was taken at the work session. The item was placed on the district's consent list for the April 7 board meeting.
