Facilities staff presented bids for roof repair and replacement at the Community Learning Center at Pinckney (main classroom building and cafeteria). Staff said three informal bids were received: Dry Tech Commercial for $425,984, Fox Hill Construction for $386,768, and McRae Roofing for $542,800. Staff recommended Fox Hill Construction, the lowest responsive bidder, to complete both roofs with 30-year warranties.
"The lowest responsive bidder was Fox Hill Construction. They'll complete both buildings at the same time. Each roof will have a 30 year warranty and we do recommend that Fox Hill get the contract in the amount of $386,768," Ms. Purvis said.
Ms. Purvis told the board the work would be paid from remaining county bond premium funds allocated for renovations at Pinckney and that the contractor is based in Wilmington, N.C. Staff said the project is scheduled for completion during the summer break.
Board members asked clarifying questions about which roof areas were included (the IT building and child nutrition facilities were not part of the contract) and about prior silicone repairs on a separate IT building roof. No final contract award vote was recorded in the March 3 work session; the item was noted as consent on the April 7 meeting agenda.
