Committee recommends fix to Child Abuse Prevention Trust Fund reporting timeline

The House State Civic Military and Veterans Affairs Committee on a unanimous vote recommended House Bill 13‑05 to the Committee of the Whole. Sponsors said the bill corrects a statutory reporting deadline mismatch connected to the Colorado Child Abuse Prevention Trust Fund so required evaluations and reporting can be completed before a scheduled repeal date.

Representative Bradley said the Child Abuse Prevention Trust Fund Act (created in 1989) requires the Department of Early Childhood to contract for an independent evaluation of the trust fund’s administration, costs and effectiveness. He and Representative Espinosa said statutory revisions passed as part of a previous session created deadline issues that this bill aims to correct so the Department can finish required reporting tied to a repeal scheduled for July 1, 2027.
